On Monday 9th February more than 850 people gathered in the Gloucester Recreation Centre to express concern about coal exploration on Gloucesters doorstep. This was one of the largest community gatherings Gloucester has ever seen. The crowd unanimously endorsed Gloucester Councils position that three coal exploration licences held by Gloucester Resources Limited (GRL) not be renewed so that no coal mining can ever occur in those areas. - Grip Newsletter October 2009 (236kb pdf file)

Mr BALDWIN (Paterson) (7:49 PM) - I rise today to speak of a matter which is of grave concern to thousands of constituents in the Paterson electorate: three coal exploration licences held by Gloucester Resources Ltd. Gloucester Resources Limited holds coal Exploration Licence Nos 6523, 6524 and 6563 (EL6523, EL6524 and EL6563) over the Gloucester exploration area, south and south west of Gloucester. The exploration areas embrace an area of about 112 square kilometres.
