Duralie Coal are seeking approval for an extension of the existing pit with two additional open cut pits (Weismantel & Clareval) to the northwest of the main pit area. There are problems and concerns regarding this proposal.

Gloucester Resources Limited holds coal Exploration Licence Nos 6523, 6524 and 6563 (EL6523, EL6524 and EL6563) over the Gloucester exploration area, south and south west of Gloucester. The exploration areas embrace an area of about 112 square kilometres. The Gloucester Exploration Project Community Consultative Committee is established under the auspice of the designated authority, NSW Department of Primary Industries, Mineral Resources.

Mr BALDWIN (Paterson) (7:49 PM) - I rise today to speak of a matter which is of grave concern to thousands of constituents in the Paterson electorate: three coal exploration licences held by Gloucester Resources Ltd. The Gloucester community and the local council are vehemently seeking that these licences not be renewed.
